Life without art is like food without spices. Artist Olena Polyaschenko challenged herself to literally prove this truth in Ya Gallery Art Centre.
This idea came to the artist when she finished a series of graphic drawings "Banquet" with its continuous allusions to mythical plots making new accents. "Life without art might be possible, but art enriches it and makes it more interesting", Polyashenko comments her idea. The artist doesn't deny her fascination with the representatives of the High Renaissance. Giorgione's sleeping Venus or Titian's Venus of Urbino placed into a quotidian environment make you look at usual objects in a different way and turn "food" into a new and interesting object for reflection. What is art in a contemporary world? What role is it capable of and is supposed to play?
"To refine the taste or spice it up. Food of good quality without spices is good, but with them it is much better. So why refrain?" - OlenaPolyshenko argues and invites us to have a taste of her "culinary masterpieces".
