"The Great Construction" that doesn't lack critical intention artists unmask the transformations of the cityscape.
Reckless city build-up, pollution of the public space with pseudo modern constructions, extinguishment of green spaces - urbanization "Ukrainian way" doesn't leave our children a chance to enjoy "the-greenest-in-Europe" and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the World city of Kyiv. Naturally these processes induce artistic reflection. Following Tistol and Matsenko's project "Natsprom", where Ukrainian architectural tradition is demythified, and R.E.P. group members who investigate the European-style remodelling of the mind esthetics, which in a way is the source of the above mentioned transformations Anton Logov and Mykyta Kravtsov - "Genofond" program participants - present their own perspective on the problem. In their project "The Great Construction" that doesn't lack critical intention artists unmask the transformations of the cityscape. Kravtsov captures idiotic details of the urban landscape: in his focus are the bright "Kyiv is the city of flowers" billboards with abandoned multistory buildings half-finished in the background that hang over the capital from the beginning of recession. Logov ironically treats pictures of Kyiv streets with paint, building over them the unpleasant, yet very possible in the nearest future reality. In addition the young artists create a series of half-abstract landscape paintings that are rather a fixation of the city's emotional state than its formal visual cover.
