Windows. Andrij Dudchenko
Opening will take place on 7th of December at 7 p.m. in Ya Gallery art centre on 49B Khoryva Str
Andriy Dudchenko's studio is situated in an old pre-revolutionary building that has had "for demolition" status for the last twenty years. Besides that, most of the apartments in a relatively decent state for rent, and Andriy is trying to get into these apartments, to have a look and to understand the people who are ready to live there. The artist is using this situation as a starting point for his new project. Perceiving a window as an exit from the space, a termination point of an enclosed world, the author makes an attempt to comprehend this space. The artist relies solely on his observations of the windows and comes to a conclusion about the impossibility and absurdity of such observations. As a result he acquired a number of forms - a curtain that doesn't have any inner filling and becomes a kind of a critique to the romantic component of the window symbol. This way, ignoring the inner contents and presenting only imagery in his works, Andriy concentrates on demonstration of windows as simple rhythmic decisions. The final stage of the symbol disconnected from its primary meaning is a completed and closed form.
