I am Donor

Ruslan Tremba

Ruslan Tremba

Consistently examining physicality as a projection of affective components of the mind, Tremba frequently chooses himself as a research object. In the halls of Ya Gallery Art Center he proposes himself as a donor, doing so from the position of Tremba-artist - a donor of ideas, artwork and thoughts - and from the position of Tremba-human - literal donor of organs and body liquids.

Consistently examining physicality as a projection of affective components of the mind, Tremba frequently chooses himself as a research object. In the halls of Ya Gallery Art Center he proposes himself as a donor, doing so from the position of Tremba-artist – a donor of ideas, artwork and thoughts – and from the position of Tremba-human - literal donor of organs and body liquids. A series of half-abstract paintings together with completely figurative limbs nailed to the tiles argues about the nature of artwork and artistic expression. Without denying the transcendent nature of the art, he puts its physical manifestation upfront. Such close to Viennese Actionists' statement that the body of an artist equals artwork can be linked to Tremba's pieces, but on the next level of consederation.

Author

Born 1980. Lives and works in Uzhgorod.

2005 - graduated from Lviv National Academy of Arts.

In 2010 his series of works “To the Father's Farm" was awarded with the Grand Prix of the third International Graphic Arts Exhibition “Art-Line" in Minsk, Belarus.

Even the most abstract Tremba's works always appeal to corporality and sexuality. But this "sex" isn't sexual. Substext in Tremba's pieces is just polemicizing about the physical nature of artwork itself.
