The exhibition Svirzh Castle: Genesis is dedicated to the key moments of the history of the castle. We show the object as it is today, building the exposition in the old walls. The project should initiate the renaissance of the castle's life and become one of the first events of The Cultural Center Svirzh Castle.
The Ukrainian Cultural Foundation is a state-owned institution created in 2017 in correspondence with the Law of Ukraine with aim to facilitate development of culture and arts in Ukraine, to provide favourable environment for development of intellectual and spiritual potential of individuals and society, wide access for the citizens to national cultural heritage, to support cultural diversity and integration of the Ukrainian culture into the world cultural space. The Ukrainian Cultural Foundation supports projects through a competitive selection process. Activities of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation are guided and coordinated by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
Brief note: Svirzh Castle is located in the district of Peremyshlyansk in Lviv region. It was first mentioned. At that time, the castle belonged to the Svirzh family. It was substantially rebuilt for Alexander Tsetner in the first half of the 17th century and belonged to his descendants until the 19th century. At that period, it acquired a palace appearance. The castle suffered the greatest damage during the First World War - it was burned down by Russian troops. In 1917, it was rebuilt by the next owner — General Robert Lamezan-Salins. The last restoration works were carried out in the 1970-1980s.
