He was born in December 1938 in the village of Znamenivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In 1961 he graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Art School, and in 1967 from the Kyiv State Art Institute.
1997 — Laureate in the Artist of the Year nomination, "Golden Intersection".
1998 — Laureate of the Vasyl Stus Prize.
In 2009 - "DE PROFUNDIS" (From the DEPTH). "Art ARSENAL" Kyiv.
In 2012, Mykola Malyshko became the Laureate of the First Kyiv Biennale of Contemporary Art in the ARSENALE 2012 Discovery category.
In 2017, the winner of the Shevchenko Prize in the category "Visual Arts".
