Kyiv. Ya Gallery
03.10.2018 – 05.11.2018
Nothing – the artist's first personal exhibition at Pavlo Gudimov's Ya Gallery, although a fruitful cooperation has started a long time ago. Nina Denysova is the wife and inspirer of Mykola Malyshko the art centre has been working with for more than a decade.
– And what are you doing, painting?
– Nothing, painting…
It is impossible to see anything so close, I get confused.
– it is easier to see something from a distance.
That – nothing – is a lifeboat in the ocean of words about myself, about the world, about painting.
I paint avoiding the description.
A small dot tells me so much.
– I am done.
– I'm looking.
Nothing is the picturesque works reflecting the artistic contemplations, life-affirming position and attitude towards painting as a way of personal 'escape' in general:
'I can't help but be astonished by painting that is so fantastic and simple like a fairy tale. It is created to come to and understand this incomprehensible world. I can see the fascinating mystery of the world with the simplest means – a line, colour, a small dot. That is why I'm grateful to the fate for giving me the possibility to paint because painting is something that knows much more than a painter themself! Painting is that loneliness that gives us an opportunity to speak, it is the outlet from the an aloof being to an infinite openness that connects me with the world,' Nina Denysova.
